Machame Route
The Machame route is a 7-day Kilimanjaro climb, and the most scenic route for its length, from rainforest to the Barranco Wall. Most operators run it in six days with low tents and mats on the ground. We give you seven days, a walk-in stand-up tent with a raised bed, a private hot shower and toilet at every camp, and a 1:1 summit guide. Private climbs from £2,995 per person.

Fly the route before you climb it.
Machame climbs straight up through thick rainforest on Day 1, so steep in places that the trees are hung with moss. By Day 2 you’re above the clouds on the Shira ridge. Day 4 is the one climbers talk about: up to the Lava Tower, down into the Barranco Valley among giant groundsels, and then, the next morning, the Barranco Wall. It looks impossible from camp and turns out to be a hands-on scramble that most people call the best part of the climb.

On your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be greeted personally by your Legend guide, and transferred privately to the Maridadi Hotel in Moshi (approx 45 mins). The hotel features single rooms, a swimming pool and a rooftop view with stunning views of Kilimanjaro, giving you a taste of the peak you’re about to scale. Enjoy a team meal and welcome briefing with your Legend guide, where you can meet your fellow climbers, and we will conduct an equipment check and source any hired or last minute equipment you’ll need for the week ahead.
