Elephants, then the crater.
Two days among Tarangire's elephant herds, then down into the Ngorongoro Crater at first light. Our most popular safari, and the best short Big Five trip in Tanzania.
Private safari · 3 or 4 days
The two best short-safari parks, together.
Tarangire gives you elephants, baobabs and quiet. The Ngorongoro Crater gives you the Big Five in one extraordinary morning. Together they make a complete safari in three days, with short drives and no flights.

“If someone asks me for one safari after Kilimanjaro, this is it. Three days, no flights, and you will see more than most people see in a week.”
Three reasons this is our most booked safari.

Two very different parks
Tarangire is wide, dry and full of elephants. The crater is a walled world of grassland and lakes. Back to back, they feel like two different safaris.

The Big Five, done properly
Lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo across both parks, and black rhino on the crater floor.

Sleep on the crater rim
At our Luxury level you spend your last night on the crater rim, wake above the clouds and are at the gate first.

Greener landscapes and fewer vehicles. Tarangire's herds spread out but the crater stays excellent.
Rainy

The crater is still good, but Tarangire tracks get muddy and some lodges close.

How we price
Estimate, not a final quote. This is an estimate based on high-season rates for each comfort level. Once we know your dates, arrival times and flight times, we send you an exact quote in writing, with your lodges confirmed at your chosen standard, before you pay anything. Park permits run for 24 hours, so your timings can change the final price, as can park fees, lodge rates and exchange rates.
