What to expect

What to expect

“Rongai is the route I suggest when someone wants Kilimanjaro without the crowds. On the first days you can walk for hours without seeing another group, and the northern side gets less rain, so it’s a strong choice if you’re climbing in April, May or November.

By night you get a full Legend camp: a walk-in tent you can stand up in, a raised bed and your own hot shower and toilet, on the side of the mountain most people never see.”

HONEST ROUTE ADVICE

Is Rongai the right route for you?

We run every major route on Kilimanjaro, so we’ve no reason to push you onto the wrong one.

CHOOSE Machame IF

You want quiet trails and real wilderness, away from the crowds

You're climbing in March, April, May or November , when the north side is drier

You'd like a gentle, steady gradient for the first few days

You want to see the mountain from both sides: up from the north, down the south

CONSIDER ANOTHER ROUTE IF

You want the best possible summit odds: Lemosho 8-day (98.9%)

You want the classic scenery , Lava T ower and Barranco Wall: Machame 7-day

You'd rather sleep in a hut every night: Marangu

Still unsure? Book 15 minutes with Jack and we’ll match you

LIVE 3D ROUTE MAP

Fly the route before you climb it.

The only route that crosses Kilimanjaro: up the quiet northern side from near the Kenyan border, a night beneath Mawenzi’s jagged peaks at Mawenzi Tarn (4,330m / 14,206ft), then down the Marangu side in the south.
