KILIMANJARO · 6-DAY CLIMB
Marangu Route
The Marangu route is a 6-day Kilimanjaro climb (8 days door to door from Moshi), and the only route where you sleep in mountain huts. Instead of the shared public dorms, Legend books the new private VIP huts at Mandara and Horombo: your own cabin with an en-suite hot shower and flush toilet, a thick mattress with clean linens, and a private heated dining room. Add the acclimatisation day most operators skip and a 1:1 summit guide. Private climbs from £2,645 per person.

HONEST ROUTE ADVICE
Is Marangu the right route for you?
We run every major route on Kilimanjaro, so we’ve no reason to push you onto the wrong one.
CHOOSE Machame IF
You'd rather sleep in a hut than a tent
Y ou want the most gradual gradient on the mountain, with no scrambling
Y ou can't take ten days away: this is an 8-day trip
You're climbing in the wetter months, when a roof makes a difference
CONSIDER ANOTHER ROUTE IF
You want the best possible summit odds and quieter trails: Lemosho 8-day (98.9%)
You want different scenery up and down: Marangu goes up and down the same path.
You’re climbing in the rainy season and want the drier north side: Rongai
Still unsure? Book 15 minutes with Jack and we’ll match you
LIVE 3D ROUTE MAP
Fly the route before you climb it.
Marangu is the route the first climbers used, and the only one where you go up and come down the same path. You start in lush forest above the Chagga villages, then climb through heath and moorland to Horombo, where you spend an extra day acclimatising. Day 5 crosses the Saddle, a bare lunar desert between Kibo and Mawenzi, to Kibo Hut at the foot of the summit cone. Summit night climbs the switchbacks to Gilman’s Point on the crater rim, then along the rim to Uhuru Peak.
