What you'll do

Our two day safari is for travellers who want time inside one of Tanzania's most underrated parks. Tarangire is famous for its huge elephant herds and the ancient baobab trees that frame the savannah. From your starting point in Moshi, we drive south to the park and head straight onto an afternoon game drive, picnic lunch in hand. By evening you are inside the park itself at Tarangire Greenland Retreat, with the sounds of the bush all around.

The next morning starts with coffee at sunrise and a final game drive when the wildlife is most active. From there we head to Arusha and Tumbili Lodge, a relaxed final base with tropical gardens and resident monkeys. On the third day we transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport, ideally on a later flight so you have time for a slow morning.

Day 1

Moshi to Tarangire National Park

We collect you from your hotel in Moshi and drive south to Tarangire National Park. The journey is part of the experience, with the landscape opening up as you go. Once inside the park, you head straight onto an afternoon game drive across the baobab dotted savannah. Tarangire is best known for its elephants, and you will likely see them in their dozens, alongside giraffes, zebras and the lions that follow the herds. We pause for a picnic lunch in a quiet corner of the park, then continue exploring as the heat of the day softens. By dusk, you arrive at Tarangire Greenland Retreat, your home for the night, set inside the park itself.

Day 2

Sunrise in Tarangire, Evening in Arusha

Sunrise in Tarangire is one of those moments that stays with you. After early coffee, we head out for a morning game drive when the light is soft and the wildlife is on the move. With your guide leading the way, you might find lions resting after a hunt, elephants drinking at the river, or buffalo moving across the open ground. Once we have made the most of the morning, we leave Tarangire and drive north to Arusha, arriving at Tumbili Lodge in time to settle in. The lodge has tropical gardens, a swimming pool and a friendly group of resident monkeys to keep you entertained.

Day 3

Your Last Morning in Tanzania

Take it slowly today. Breakfast at the lodge, a final wander through the gardens, then a transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home. We recommend booking a later departure so you can make the most of your last morning at Tumbili.

Tarangire Greenland Retreat

Tarangire Greenland Retreat is an intimate, solar powered camp tucked inside Tarangire National Park, surrounded by ancient baobabs and open wilderness. The canvas suites are spacious and quietly luxurious, each with an en suite and a private verandah looking out into the bush. A campfire and warm communal areas tie the days together, and game drives start right from camp.
